A lullaby for a baby is a comfort: A lullaby for a grown-up is an ambivalence. I do not feel like sleeping, but I have to sleep for tomorrow. Babies sleep (for)* the present: we grown-ups sleep for the future.

(For babies, there is no concept like “for” or “because of”. They live and sleep the present, whether it is a good thing or not.)

I used to think of “grand things” in life. I approached the issue of “how to live” from the “great footstep” perspective. Now I know that there is no such thing. A time of reflection of “why am I here” - the very question of life.

I believe that every moment of one’s life shows just the half of its meaning to the person. It means any moment in a person’s life lends itself to further questioning and interpretation. Our life as learners requires us to fill this half of life pictures. However, revealing the half of that moment is much more than adding one half to the picture: It allows me to appreciate the qualitatively different whole, which cannot be equated with half plus half. It is adding black keys to a white-key piano. It is adding wind to flags.
